Creativity

I have had many of my life long friends say to me “I have know you over 50 years, where did this creativity come from?”. I smile and say “I don’t really know”. I can’t draw unless you consider stick figures drawing. My carpentry skills are mediocre at best. Paint by number or coloring books, you know…things with borders for the colors sum up my painting capabilities. But since I was young, I could always see how something would look when it was completed. This skill came in quite handy in my previous life, when we purchased an old factory in the Food Center in Philadelphia for our new warehouse and corporate headquarters. I was tasked with the renovation. After spending hours in the building alone studying every inch, I knew how it was going to look when done.

Over the last year, I have picked up some unique items to make bases for my various tables, benches and bar stools. Soon, I will post some pictures bases I designed for end tables and entrance hall/behind the sofa tables.

A few weeks ago I was walking through a large warehouse with thousands of amazing old things like Merry-Go-Round horses, antique Foose Ball tables and wooden skis to name a few. Then I came upon a large plastic bin filled with old wooden children’s shoe molds that a cobbler would use to hand make all types of kids shoes. I sorted through them and picked out twelve that were made from different woods, shapes and sizes. Once I find the correct piece of wood, I will be mounting them as the steps of growth on the pathway of life.
